Eligibility

-Must be a California resident -Must meet income eligible (See Eligibility by Federal Poverty Level chart.) or meet eligibility through a Medi-Cal special program. Medi-Cal special program eligibility includes: -Pregnant women -Children under 21 years old -Parent/Caretaker Relative of an age-eligible child -Individuals 65 years of age or older -Individuals who are blind or disabled -Adult or child in a long-term care facility Starting 7/1/26: Undocumented adults aged 19 and older only qualify for emergency, pregnancy, or nursing home-related services and emergency dental care. There will be additional changes to Medi-Cal related to asset limits, eligibility for full scope versus emergency coverage, and paying a premium rolled out through 2028.

Required documents

For coverage of more than emergency care, applicants may be required to provide documentation that proves citizenship such as: -Birth certificate, passport, naturalization certificate, or USCIS document -Social Security Number -Social Security card for all persons requesting more than emergency care -Income information (W2 or recent pay stubs) -Proof of residency

Medi-Cal helps cover: -Ambulatory patient services -Emergency services -Hospitalization -Dental care which includes preventive and diagnostic services (Denti-Cal) -Maternity and newborn care -Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment -Prescription drugs -Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices -Laboratory services. -Preventive and wellness services -Chronic disease management -Pediatric services (including oral and vision care) -Offers members Non-Emergency Medical Transportation on a case by case basis
